The K2 children of PCF Sparkletots @ Jurong Spring Blk. 515 planted various plants such as tomatoes, lady finger and radish in their Sparkle Nursery. In the initial stage of the project, they were taught the importance of plants in our environment and how in their little ways, they can take care of them. Now, they are applying what they learned to our Sparkle Nursery.
The children are very involved and hands-on in taking care of the plants. They pick up rubbish around our garden as well as water the plants daily. In addition to that, they pulled overgrown weeds and make sure that the pots are steady.
The parents were also involved in the project; they provided the soil for the plants and helped the children plant the seeds.
This experience will always be remembered by the children. When they saw how the seeds had germinated into plants, the expression on their faces were priceless. They realized that it’s not easy to grow a plant and that we should take care of them, for they have an incredible role to play in our environment.
