In the month of June, the K2 children learnt about the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. In this activity, the children learnt about the importance of implementing the 3Rs in their daily lives. They felt the need to save the Earth so that they have a better environment to live in. They also shared that they do not wish to live in an environment where there is a lot of rubbish. They also do not want to breathe in polluted air which may caused harm to their health.
The children were then encouraged to depict their very own Mother Earth by using the variety of art materials and incorporating ‘Henri Matisse’ art technique in their artwork.
The children were also given the opportunity to discuss how they can contribute to saving the earth. Children highlighted that they could make games that encourage people to save the earth, give them rewards when they did a positive saving earth act, and create posters to place them in public spaces. They then decided to create a big poster on ‘Say No to plastic’ using old newspapers and recycled paper.
The children had an enriching time exploring the different ways to incorporate the 3Rs into their daily lives.
