National Day is here and it is a time for us to show gratitude to our country and families for loving us and giving us a safe place we proudly call ‘Home’. Little Atlas Preschool collaborated with “Families for Life”, a local community initiative, in a mini project to help our children represent and express their connections with their families. Look at the numerous beautiful drawings filled with colours and love! These family portraits were carefully drawn by our Innovators who also shared with us their interesting family stories!
The children read the book “Treasure for Life: Happy Birthday Dawn!” by Esther Eio, as part of our mini project with “Families for Life”. The heartwarming story was about the importance of giving love and family being our greatest treasure in life.
Family portraits have the ability to immortalise good memories that strengthen relationships within our families. We are glad we got to do this with our little Innovators, and get an opportunity to really understand them better as individuals and their connections outside of our school. Sometimes, in our busy schedules, we really forget that these little children have funds of knowledge that we don’t get to see when we are in school with them. Thankful for this wonderful activity that help us shed light into our children’s unique backgrounds.
During sharing, our little innovators shared their favourite family time and presented their drawings to everyone. It was a moment to shine with pride! They patiently explained the details of their drawings and memories they could recall. After sharing, children also decorated their picture frames using stickers; they decided to gift their creation as a present to their parents. We are sure parents would be moved by our little innovator’s heartfelt gift.
