The K1 & K2 children were introduced to the term ‘SSDB’ and were enlightened about the importance and purpose of it. Some of them were able to recall and share their past experiences and knowledge. Prior to the introduction, the children were promoted various questions and were also informed about the needy families, old folks home, SPCA and many others. Hence, the children were asked about how we can give back and make a difference in the community. We brainstormed ideas together and had discussions on each topic such as caring for the earth, performing and giving food for the old folks home etc. A mind map was created as the children threw out the ideas while the K2 class teacher was guiding them through. At the end of the discussion, the children were informed to choose one topic to work on and the majority chose the topic of ‘Road Safety Awareness’. Hence, this year, we’re embarking our journey of SSDB on creating awareness about road safety and reaching out to the community to be safe on the road for both drivers and pedestrians.
