As a follow up in the ECOWarriors’ launch activities, children were taught of the benefits of turning plastic products into ECObricks. Making ECObricks is meant not to encourage the production of plastic or buying plastic bottled drinks, but rather a temporary means of protecting the environment while the world figures out a way to cut plastic out of our lives. Children learnt that their mission as ECOWarriors is to form a habit of stuffing used clean plastic wrappers or plastic bags into a used clean plastic bottle to help to recycle plastic wastes instead of simply throwing them in the bin. When we save, segregate and pack used plastics into used bottles, we can make amazing bricks that can be reused over and over again to build structures.
Upon learning the useful effects of making ECObricking a habit, children were very excited to get started making their own ECObricks. They simply stuffed their used bottles with different kinds of plastics waste and used a stick to pack bottles as tightly as possible, then put back the bottle cap to close the bottle.
And tadah! Our first ECObricks. Don’t they look pretty and colourful?
Our ECOWarriors are very motivated to make as many ECObricks as they can to build something they can use in class. Children and parents were involved to create ECObricks at home too whenever they have any used plastic waste and bring their ECObricks to school.
Can you guess what are we going to build with our ECObricks? Watch out for our upcoming stories for updates on our ECOstruction Project!
