The teachers and children at MK@AG were determined to make a difference in Singapore’s society to raise the awareness to the public to give up their seats to those in need on our public transportations. We started this project by introducing to the children the priority seats and sharing with them the importance of these seats.
On 23 April 2019, parents were invited to join our launch party to take a pledge together with their children to do their part to make a difference. We also brought them on an experiential journey on an LRT ride to observe, experience and understand more about the problems commuters face daily on our public transportations. Some of our children even had the opportunity to give up their seats to those in need.
Our children designed posters and stickers, and created a short video and jingle to share with the public. We also organised a “One Seat, Many Smiles” day where all our children and teachers went out to the neighbourhood and distributed the stickers and showcased posters they have designed to encourage and raise the awareness to fellow Singaporeans to be gracious. In collaboration with Singapore Kindness Movement, the children’s work will be displayed at the ECDA Conference this year, so keep a look out for them!
