Phase 4: Our Community Collaborations- Senior Care Centre @ Woodlands Peak & Senior Care Centre @ Changi
As part of our Community collaboration, we got to partner up with our seniors from the Senior Care Centre @ Woodlands Peak and Changi in a fun and active zumba session and celebrating the mid- autumn festival virtually.
“Through its music and movement, Zumba brings out joy and happiness in people from all ages.
Both the K1 children and seniors perspired from the vigorous but fun workouts, adopting a better lifestyle with each exercise.
Additionally, children were also facilitated as they discussed the origin of the mid- autumn festival and its significance. Together with the seniors and a parent facilitator. Children worked together to make their own mooncakes.
The Chinese believes that eating mooncakes symbolize prosperity, reunion and togetherness and that is the virtue we would want to empower our children with through this event.
After each session, children had the opportunities to interact with the seniors. They also reinforce and share with the seniors the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exercising. The seniors also shared their experiences of celebrating the mid-autumn festival. Towards the end of the activity, children were invited to do a mini performance for the seniors and wished them happiness, longevity, good health and luck.
As we end our expedition, we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to our community partners and stakeholders for their tremendous support. We will continue to impart the lessons we have learnt and share it with our community.
Until next year….
