National Day is a day of celebration! Today, we connect with our history and heritage!
Every year, our city dresses for the occasion with flags that adorned buildings, patriotic songs pervading the air, people decked in red and white attires, and of course, the National Day Parade (NDP).
This year, we celebrate Singapore’s 57th birthday with the theme “Stronger Together, Majulah!”. This calls for all Singaporeans to remain connected and united amidst our multicultural diversity. This is what makes us stronger as a nation together.
We received a booklet by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) and National Day Parade 2022 Executive Committee, “Stronger Together, Majulah!” and it intrigued the teachers to start a sharing session about our Singaporean values; what makes us special?
Through these activities , we hope to foster a deeper appreciation for Singapore as our home country and how it has provided us with warmth and a sense of belonging. We are Singaporeans and residents of Singapore, and together, our bond will help us acquire positive dispositions, such as resilience, care, and respect for one another. This is the cornerstone of how “We Heartly Connect”!
The children visited different Places of Interest in Singapore, and shared their personal experiences! Their favourite destinations were the beaches on beautiful Sentosa and watching the Merlion “spew” water. They were full of excitement as they completed the word search puzzle in the booklet. Wow little Innovators, what patience and perseverance you have to complete such a challenging task! Well done!
Last but not least, celebrating National Day provided us the opportunity to understand what our National flag means and its elements. Our children created their own Singapore flags and proudly waved it around. Our faces brimmed with pride as we are proud to call ourselves one nation - Singapore.
