This National Day, the children were involved in a marching parade. To prepare for it, they discussed about occupations that represent the country and take part in the National Day Parade. Some of the occupations listed were soldiers, firefighter, policemen etc. They understood that these jobs are not easy as they would have to go through potential danger to protect the county, citizens and themselves. The children shared that they would want to say thank you to them.
As a class, they prepared their costumes and gear and practised marching for the school’s National Day parade. It was not as easy task, but with determination, the children learnt to march in an orderly manner. During the process, they learnt how to show love and respect for the nation. On the day of the parade, the children focused on their marching, following the class and they walked forwards to the front of the school’s crowd. There, they sang the National Anthem and recited The Pledge.
After the march, the children continued the celebration for National Day. They sang, waved their flags and danced to several songs such as Shine Your Light and Stronger Together. The children enjoyed the music session. To end the event, the children went on a neighbourhood parade. They walked around the community with their classes and parents.
