On 10th of July 2019, K1 and K2 children from My First Skool@JW5 excitedly paid a visit to NTUC Nursing Home (Jurong West Branch). We are grateful to have parent volunteers who take their time off not just to accompany the children but gladly witnessed how these young ones take the lead in entertaining the residents of NTUC Health Nursing Home. Children cheerfully participated in some series of activities to amuse their audience and make this experience a meaningful interaction to all the people involved and present during the visit. It indeed provides an opportunity for our children to make a connection to the community by means of showing care to the elderly.
Prior to the visit, during our centre’s Hari Raya celebration, children across all ages (Toddler to K2) participated and sold their artwork to their parents in exchange of goodies (such as scarves, colouring materials and packet drinks) to support the nursing home’s Mama shop activity. We are so pleased and grateful to collect generous amounts of contribution from our dear stakeholders, the parents.
The interaction observed between the generations brought new energy and enthusiasm to each other’s lives. We are so proud that the children did not only enjoy the experience but also through this avenue, they learnt how to show empathy and compassion to the residents of NTUC Health Nursing Home.
It is not how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts. Life isn’t worth loving unless lived for other people.
