This year, My First Skool @ Ang Mo Kio Blk 209 embarked on the SSDB project with the aim of giving back to the elderly. The Nursery, Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 children were involved in the Launch Party held on 6 June 2018.
The children were actively involved in the preparations prior to the Launch Party. The three classes of children practiced for their performances and even had their ‘hands’ in creating the backdrop for the event. Food donations were collected from parents which were then packed into goodie bags for the elderly by the Kindergarten 2 children.
The elderly from the Residents’ Corner Club were invited to the Launch Party. The Nursery class danced to the song ‘Burung Kakak Tua’ while the Kindergarten 1 class performed ‘感谢 (Gan Xie)’. The Kindergarten 2 children performed ‘甜蜜蜜 (Tian Mi Mi)’ and were also involved in creating crafts as well as playing traditional games with the elderly. Some parents also graced the event to show support for their children.
The launch was a great success with the happy elderly and children. Some of the elderly even asked for more activities with the children in the future!
