We are very excited to announce the launch of our new SSDB project at My First Skool Jurong West 4 in March. This year we aim to educate and encourage our children to play a vital role in protecting our planet earth and care for our community. Our children will be involved in water conservation(caring for our environment) & raising funds for the less fortunate.
We worked closely with our children to help them understand how they can make a positive difference in the environment in a fun and engaging way. For the whole month of March our children were involved in different ways to conserve water, they were provided with tools and resources.Our children were involved in brainstorming ideas on the proper practices of conserving water that they can apply in school and at home too.
Each class had the opportunity to take part in watering the school’s mini garden by using recycled bottled water and using a minimal amount of water as part of the campaign. The water used was also from the collected rain water.
Apart from that, we also involved our children in making a poster with their parents at home. Parents were encouraged to use recycled materials to create the poster. These posters were placed around each class, as part of creating awareness for everyone.
Our elderly from Adventist Golden Peony were also involved in this project and they also practice ways to conserve water by turning off the tap when washing their hands with soap, rinsing vegetables in a container and using rainwater to water the plants.
We believe that every child has the potential to be a changemaker, and we should empower our preschoolers to become environmentally conscious individuals who will make responsible choices that will benefit our planet earth. Each of us played a part in saving our environment and imparting this to our little ones is a must. By doing this we have seen that our children were given opportunities to care more for the environment and the people around them.
