This year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the main theme for the children’s Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project is ‘A Stronger Me! A Stronger Us!’
The children embarked on a journey of collaborating with the community to achieve their BIG dreams. The children dream of having a community that lives a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly. To encourage the community to have fun while keeping fit, the children learnt an animal workout involving eleven different exercise positions inspired by animals and demonstrated how to do the exercises.
In addition, to encourage collaboration with families, parents and children were encouraged to record themselves doing the animal workout with their child at home. This also encouraged families to live a healthy lifestyle to fight COVID-19!
To encourage children’s reflection about their journey, the children drew pictures and wrote sentences describing what their favourite exercise position was in the animal workout! Recording their reflections in their SSDB journal encouraged them not only to gain self-awareness but learn to record their journey of achieving their big dreams of a stronger me, a stronger us!
Moreover, after recording their reflections, the children shared their experiences and reflections with the class, encouraging them to work on their dreams together!
Let’s work together in fulfilling the dreams of having a stronger me, a stronger us!
