The aim of this project is to raise awareness of ways to be kind and givingness in relation to our theme on ‘Kindness and Giving’. Through this project, children will stay committed to serving their community such as children of similar ages that are in need of help and joy during the festive season of Hari Raya. Also, this project serves as a reminder for children to
(1) be grateful and appreciative of the things they have, and
(2) empathize with those who do not and provide for them.
This in turn relates back to our organization’s core values which are caring, responsibility, respect and honesty, as well as, our vision – to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
We kick start with our first project in April to May 2022; making, baking and packing kuihs for Pertapis Children’s Home! In conjunction with the month of Ramadhan and Hari Raya Celebration, the children from N2 to K2 baked Hari Raya kuihs for the children in Pertapis Children’s Home. Children were also invloved in sorting and packing of kuihs into our “Jars of Heart” containers!
Parents took part by contributing the ingredients and containers for the variety of kuihs baked. Not only that, in order to include sustainability element, parents also donated t-shirts that are of in good condition and make them into a t-shirt bag, where it acted as carriers for the items.
Few days before Hari Raya, these items were donated to the Pertapis Children’s Home. We hope all the children had a merrier and joyous Hari Raya this year!
