The plant life cycle starts with a small seed; as does nurturing children’s love for Nature and the community. MK@Westwood sowed the “seeds of love” on 23rd and 30th April 2018 during the launch party for SSDB 2018.
“I got that orange hat!” exclaimed a child as he stepped into the venue of the launch party.
Since some children had previously participated in SSDB projects, the orange hats were a familiar sight for them. The launch party started with a simple Q&A session about the theme for MK@Westwood this year - Love Spreads from the Garden.
“How can we reduce the number of plastic bags to save Mother Earth?” prompted the teacher.
Following excited shouts about how to care for others and the Mother Earth, children were all set to create their DIY recyclable tote bags.
The first step was to make a hand print by dipping their hands in brown paint. Class by class, children eagerly laid their hands on the canvas bags, making their marks to protect the Earth.
The second step was to decorate their bags by using foam stamps of different shapes and colours. By pressing the different foam stamps, children created a bag that was uniquely theirs.
Huge smiles and cheeky poses ended the launch party but the story has just begun!
Stay tuned for more stories to witness the growth of the “seeds of love” planted!
