Childhood friendship is vital to children’s healthy development either emotionally or morally. It has a huge amount of impact on a child’s well-being and gives an opportunity for them to learn how to socialize with other people. Thus, Little Treasures Childcare-Macpherson launched a SSDB project entitled “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” with the participation of the whole center across different classes. The main goal of this project is to enjoy making a friendship letter that will be sent to each other’s own homes.
Friendship Letter-Making is one of the main activities that was held last 30th of July 2021 as part of the International Friendship Day Event. The children started with choosing a friend for their letter to be sent to. Afterwards, they wrote a letter and designed the cards with their own personal style.
Since SingPost is only near our centre, K1 and K2 children get to send the friendship letters that they have prepared to their friends’ houses. The children experienced preparing envelopes, placing the stamp, to be in a queue, and dropping it on the mailbox. While for PG, N1 and N2, they have placed the letters personally on their friends’ bags
Friends also celebrate diversity by caring for friends across nationalities and showing care and concern towards each other. This activity gave an opportunity to strengthen friendships among the children by giving importance to peers and to show effort to maintaining a good friendship with each other. We hope that this leave a powerful influence on a child’s school performance and may also help to encourage positive behaviour towards each other.
