Each N2 child brought a plastic bottle to recycle. They decorated their plastic bottles together with their parents to be made in a vase. They filled up their recycled plastic bottles with sand and ‘planted’ their orchid. The orchid was used to represent Singapore and what could they do for their country to show they care for nature and it all starts from home.
The K1 children brought the cores of vegetables and fruits for stamping. The activity showed how nature could provide us food as well as useful art materials that could be reused.
As for the K2 children, they were put in charged of painting our “Teaching Garden”. They painted freely using knowledge of lines, colours and shapes to recreate our school garden. The banner that was used for painting would not be put to waste as it is reusable. It can be washed and reused for other purposes.
They went on to harvest their garden. Ensuring that their plants watered, clearing of unnecessary rubbish, and recycling useful rubbish into the decompost machine.
The children ended the day by having a healthy picnic by the garden. Fruits, vegetables and other healthy snacks were provided. Not forgetting our slogan, the children cleaned up the area and left it spic and span.
