We involved the families in volunteering to take care of the terrapin, Toby. Children took turns to bring Toby home and worked together with their parents in feeding and cleaning Toby’s tank.
After taking care of Toby, some of the parents feedback to us that they were thankful for this ‘SSDB’ project. Through this project, it gave them an opportunity to inculcate the value of responsibility and care towards animals in their families. This project also allowed the parents to have a try-out whether their children were ready to own a pet.
We witnessed the growth of children’s love for Toby. They took initiative to feed and change water for Toby daily. It had been a great learning process for everyone (children, school and family) and we will continue to show our love and care for animals.
