Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are. - Harold S.Kushner
On 22 May 2018, the N2 children had pledged to show and spread kindness to people around them. With the children’s eagerness, the teachers had organised a visit to Jurong West Nursing Home to share joy and happiness with the residents there. The children came up with different ideas for the visit such as giving goodie bags to the resident to share their food, put up performances and also to prepare some snacks. After much brainstorming of ideas, the N2 children and teachers get into action by preparing all the surprises for the residents at the home.
Children were engrossed in designing the paper bags given by Singapore Kindness Movement which will be used as goodie bags to give out to the residents.
Here comes the best part of the project! The children were excited in baking the oatmeal and raisin cookies for the residents. They started from making the cookie dough, to putting them on tray, to the oven and packaging them! Children and teachers did a QC check by having the first bite to ensure it is edible and soft for the residents to eat.
For the last step, the children pasted stickers and pack all the goodies they had prepared into the bags. With teamwork and their helping hands, we managed to prepare gifts filled with love for the residents in the nursing home.
Do stay tune to read on of our visit to Jurong West Nursing Home!
