On May 13, 2024, Nursery 2 children from PCF Sparkletots @ Nee Soon East 367 embarked on a delightful field trip to a baking workshop in collaboration with Genius R Us. The focus of the workshop was on baking healthy butter biscuits, a choice inspired by the children’s enthusiasm for creating handmade gifts for their mothers in celebration of Mother’s Day.
As we embrace the “Families for Life” theme, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the importance of healthy habits that contribute to a happy and fulfilling family life. Two key components of a healthy lifestyle are nutritious eating and regular exercise, which play a significant role in the well-being of every family member.
The workshop provided an enriching learning experience for the children, allowing them to actively participate in the baking process. They learned about the various ingredients involved, the steps required to bake the biscuits, and the importance of healthy eating. This hands-on activity was not only fun but also educational, as it offered the children practical knowledge about nutrition and cooking.
The decision to choose this particular field trip was guided by the children’s expressed interest in making something special for their mothers. This thoughtful project enabled them to channel their creativity and effort into a meaningful gesture of appreciation. The process of making the biscuits allowed the children to reflect on the significance of Mother’s Day and express their gratitude in a tangible and heartfelt way.
Moreover, the workshop was effective in promoting a sense of accomplishment among the children. By seeing their efforts come to fruition in the form of delicious, homemade biscuits, they gained confidence and a greater appreciation for the value of their hard work. This experience not only enhanced their baking skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of how they can use their talents to show appreciation and affection for their loved ones.
Overall, the field trip was a memorable and impactful event, combining practical learning with emotional development. It provided the children with the opportunity to celebrate a special occasion, learn about healthy food choices, and engage in a meaningful activity that reinforced the values of gratitude and appreciation
