As part of our SSDB efforts to promote zero waste, the children in MOE Kindergarten @ Fernvale had a chance to learn more about composting from a Fernvale Primary School teacher.
Prior to the meeting with the Primary School teacher, the K2 children were encouraged to bring food waste from home. They were introduced to the different types of food waste such as citrus peels and eggshells.
In our efforts to reduce them, the children were given the opportunity to have a hands-on experience to turn food waste into compost to help plants and vegetables grow.
During the meeting, the Primary School teacher introduced the food digester machine that the school uses to create compost from food waste.
The children took turns to place their collected food waste in the machine.
They were amazed to see the compost produced from the food waste.
