Hello everyone, we are MK@Westwood (MK@WW)!
On 29th April 2019, children in MK@WW participated in the launch party for this year’s Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project! Our Music Room was decorated with SSDB mobiles and our SSDB banner to pique children’s interest and get them into a celebratory mood! Sure enough, as curious faces wander into the room, some of the children began pointing at the decorations on the wall excitedly telling their friends about what they see!
Yes! That’s right, kids! It’s the time of the year again for our annual project, Start Small Dream Big!
As this is some children’s first time participating in the project, we did a recap of our past year’s project! Children got to see their efforts in the photos we show them. These photos got the children to get more and more excited as they remembered how they spent time with their friends and teachers for the project!
In conjunction with the Bicentennial year this year, MK@WW too celebrates the Merdeka Generation and they are the main focus for our SSDB 2019 project!
Children were shown photos and videos from the olden days, as far as back in the 1950s! Children looked on with fascinated eyes as they see how lives were back then for their grandparents! Excited voices can be heard as they see how their grandparents spent time playing outdoors in fields that we rarely see now! Fellow teachers began feeling emotional as they looked at the photos and videos and started reminiscing these precious moments they had in their younger years! Children were also shown pictures of Singapore in the current times and they were also introduced to the very group of people who made modern city of Singapore possible – the Merdeka Generation!
This year, MK@WW aims to celebrate the Merdeka Generation for the hard work, dedication and love they put in helping mould Singapore to the modern and successful country it is today. We have many events lined up to show our appreciation to them including Racial Harmony celebration with Grandparents, celebrating National Day with Residents from the Jurong West Health Nursing Home as well as a trip to the Bicentennial Experience at Fort Canning!
We hope you come with us on our exciting journey!
