In celebration of Singapore’s birthday, our Green Champs had it all planned to keep Singapore clean and green on this day (K1 Litter Picking Activity), as well as appreciate the Ubi cleaners by giving them special gifts (K2 Appreciation Ceremony). On top of that, we had our Bicentennial Paper N Us showcase too, in which our Green champs learnt to recycled used papers, tear them, blend them with water and reform it into different moulds to create new materials (eg writing papers, flash cards, frames and magnets).
K1 Litter Picking Activity on National Day Celebration: K1 Green Champs use the tongs, and the DIY-IGP robotic arm created by the K2s for the litter picking. They went around the school parts and pick up rubbish, doing their part to help the Ubi cleaners to keep the park clean and green.
K2 Appreciation Ceremony: Ubi cleaners are invited to our National Day celebration. Witnessed by the children and parents, our K2 Green Champs presented their special gifts to few of our Ubi cleaners who made it for our event. Children expressed their thankfulness to them by saying “Thank you for keeping Ubi clean and green. Thank you to our K2 Green Champs for the comforting gestures as a form of appreciation.
Bicentennial Paper N Us Showcase: Displays of olden and modern Singapore using paper pulps (blended pieces of recycled paper and water) as well as upcycling products (home-school project crafts using recycleable materials).
Throughout this SSDB journey, our Green Champs had acquired lots of knowledge and skills on keeping the environment clean, appreciating community helpers, being aware of current environmental issues. They applied everything they have learnt and gained into one, on our National Day celebration cum SSDB Closure event. This may be the end of the journey, but always keeping in mind that slogan of ours: “Be a Green Champ, Keep the Environment Clean!”
