SPD is a local charity set up to help people with disabilities of all ages to maximize their potential and integrate them into mainstream society.
- SPD Talk
On 26 August we had the honor to invite the Senior Executive Mr. Calvin Lee from SPD to give a talk to our children. He introduced to the children with disabilities and their daily activities. As well as using special glasses let the children experience visual impairment.
At the same time, he also explained to the children how deaf people communicate with others through sign language pictures.
2. Connect session with SPD@ Tao Payoh
To connect our children with senior disabilities and bring smiles to them in a special occasion, commemorate and join in the festival, on 29 August we had a connect session with SPD@ Toa Payoh via zoom.
Before the connect session, K1/K2 children prepared the activities and greeting cards for the seniors. N1/N2 children helped to pack the materials for the connect session.
During our Zoom connect session, children from K2, greet and ask simple casual questions to the seniors at SPD @ Toa payoh, in their Mother Tongue languages. They had fun interacting about what they eat for breakfast, how they feel that morning.
To create the atmosphere of Mid-Autumn Festival, we have a special poem recital segment by K1 children.
We also have live Art & Craft Activity. The seniors and our children enjoyed coloring significant pictures of Mid-Autumn on their fans and decorating their fan craft with Mid-Autumn elements.
Children and teachers performed a sign language song “ You are my sunshine “ for the seniors and staff at SPD @ Toa Payoh at the end of our connect session.
Happy MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL, from all children, seniors and staff of PCF Sparkletots @ Kembangan Chai Chee Blk 326 and SPD @ Toa Payoh!
