Throughout April, our Nursery-K2 students have been taking part in a kindness project within the school. Teachers and students were tasked with recognizing acts of kindness in others; such as helping others, giving thanks, sharing, and showing appreciation. It has been amazing to watch our kindness tree bloom over the course of the month as positive actions spread throughout the classrooms.
This morning, we celebrated the closing ceremony of our Kindness project by reflecting on the progress we have made and the ways in which we wish to continue this practice in the future. Students had the opportunity to share the ways in which they extended their kind actions to the home as well as recognized students who demonstrated extraordinary achievements throughout our month long event.
With this caring attitude in mind, we launched into our Start Small, Dream Big party by introducing our theme for this year: “Caring for our Community”. Our students will be extending their learning from our kindness project to the community around them. After unboxing our SSDB items, the children put on their new thinking hats to officially begin our journey!
This is sure to be an exciting year for our students!
