13th April 2018, Friday
This year we embark on a new project called, ‘Kindness in Me’ (KIM). Prior to this project, our K2 children had the same project last year. This year the children decided to make it a regular event (once a month) to instill kindness in them. For the children, kindness is defined as being friendly, generous, and considerate. Affection, gentleness, warmth, concern, and care are words that are associated with kindness. As an educator, kindness is an interpersonal skill which often requires courage and strength as not all has the empathy to display kindness.
This year we collaborate with FaithActs for our community project. Reaching to the elders and acknowledging their presence through sharing, activities and interactive conversation.
We launched our ‘Start Small Dream Big’ (SSDB) project on 13th April 2018, Friday.
The objective of this visit is for children to interact and appreciate the Elders.
We began by children showcasing their performance with a ‘Chan Mali Chan’ dance.
Following that we had our breakfast cum getting to know session for the children with the elders. Children served the elders food and they sat together eating breakfast and engage in conversations.
At the end of the session the elders thanked the children for the breakfast by giving sweet treats. We took photo together before bidding farewell.
We will meet again in our next event on 15th May 2018, Tuesday
