Part III of our SSDB JourneyThe following week, the school’s Google Drive was overwhelmed with photographs of children caught in the act of creating the yellow gerbera flower with their parents and giving it to their loved ones and neighbours.
When they returned to school, we continued discussing about kindness by reading stories of Singa and the Kindness Cubbies and watching the videos on Kindsville.
The teachers then printed their pictures and we held a closure activity to mark the end of this project. The children took turns to share their experience doing the project and shared what they have learnt about kindness.
We then read the story ‘Maddie’s New Neighbours’ by Ho Lee-Ling where the children learnt about being kind to the people around them. The children shared that they can greet at their neighbours when they see them and it is a good feeling to be kind to the people around them.
Although SSDB has come to an end, the journey of being kind continues. The children learnt to reach out to the community even in the time of a pandemic. They remember that no one can do everything but everyone can do something and as Singa always says, “Kindness Always Wins!”
