This year, our SSDB project is about kindness. It refers to the quality of being friendly, generous, helpful and considerate towards others. After some discussion, the Principal, together with K1 and K2 teachers and children, decided to embark on a project to show kindness towards the staff in the service industry and also to the less fortunate. We organized a “Kindness Walk” on Friday, 18 May 2018 (SG Kindness Day) to show appreciation towards our public transport staff. Every K2 child brought out a 3D bus craft created during a class activity prior to the outing. The bus crafts included the children’s handwritten messages of gratitude and appreciation, which were handed out to the public transport staff at Serangoon MRT Station and Bus Interchange.
Hi auntie, we hope you like the gift!
We are happy to have made you smile!
Our bus captains pleasantly surprised!
Thank you uncles for ensuring smooth train operations daily!
Say “cheese”!
A big thank you to all our public transport staff for keeping us moving!
Kinderland Kindergarten at Serangoon held the Little Entrepreneur Project (LEP) carnival on Wednesday, 18 July 2018. Children were given first-hand experience on how to think, work and manage a business like entrepreneurs. Imparting entrepreneurship to the children using simple activities such as manning stalls helped to reinforce concepts that children learned in class. They appreciated teamwork as they collaborated to keep things organized at their stalls. They exercised concentration and patience when finding change for customers who made purchases. The LEP also allowed children to express themselves and boost their confidence when promoting their food and games to the customers. Children also learned about social responsibility and the importance of helping the less fortunate as the funds raised will be donated to Kinderland’s selected beneficiary. This year, nett proceeds will go to Lions Befrienders (Singapore). Furthermore, the carnival was conducted in conjunction with Racial Harmony Day, thus provided a great opportunity to encourage our children to respect and embrace diversity, and to treat others with kindness despite differences in race and religion.

Kinderland Kindergarten at Serangoon organized a trip for K1 children to National Kidney Foundation at Serangoon Central on Tuesday, 31 July 2018. The children distributed fruit bundles to the patients and staff as well as put up a mini performance for them. By getting the children involved in community service, they will learn and put into action the values of kindness, consideration and contribution towards others from young- to become active champions of meaningful causes in society.
