In this activity, the K2 children discussed the importance of clean sea water and the consequences of having polluted sea water on Earth.
The children then did an observation on clean and polluted sea water by doing a simple experiment. They were encouraged to share their ideas on the causes and effects of water pollution based on their prior knowledge and experiences.
The children were observing the both clean and polluted sea water and articulating their observations to each other. They shared why and how the water was polluted.
Elden said “ Some people did not throw their rubbish into the bin. They throw in the sea which makes the water dirty!”
The children were then encouraged to clean the sea water by picking up the rubbish in it.
The children then exclaimed, “Hooray! We have clean water again! It is important not to throw rubbish in the sea!”
As a closure activity, they did posters on the different ways they can play their part in keeping the sea water clean!
