Our dear Sunflower kids embarked on environmental projects in collaboration with ECDA’s Start Small Dream Big initiative and in cooperation with NParks. This year is all about connecting school community to nature. At Sunflower Preschool at PFW, we want to encourage our children to appreciate nature’s treasure and the beauty of the planet in an advocacy to show everyone the importance of protecting it for future generations.
K2 children embarked on a nature project advocating Clean Air Campaign.
After learning clean air acts and various gases in the air, the children had an interesting way of using one of air components – nitrogen. They partnered with Chef Bala, who is the president of the Indian Chefs & Culinary Association to learn the preparation of nitrogen ice cream.
A mini carnival was held outside the preschool on 15 Jun 2017, which a way to raise funds for the President’s Challenge. The highlight was the making of mango ice-cream using liquid nitrogen. The parent volunteers took care of mixing the −210-degree C gas with milk and the children scooped them into bowls and added nuts. 250 servings were dispensed to coupon holders in one hour. The activities not only hailed Sunflower Preschool @PFW in Singapore Book of Records to be the “First Preschool in Singapore to Scoop 200 liquid nitrogen infused Ice Cream in One Hour” but also served a fun journey to give back to nature and raise funds for the needy.
