For our project titled “Connecting Generations, Binding Families”, the children discussed about what they can do to spread joy and kindness to the people around them and they suggested visiting the old folks home.
After getting in touch with the old folks home nearby, the children from Just Kids @ Jurong went on a trip to the nearby All Saints Home to bring a smile to the elderly faces.
Our little emcees started with greetings and a simple “repeat after me” activity.
The children also put up a dance performance to cheer them up.
They also played a game with the elderly, bringing much laughter in the hall.
They helped to serve food to the elderly and talk to them.
After the visit, when they were back in the centre, we had sharing session for reflection on the event. The children expressed that they were initially very scared as it’s somewhere they have never been before and they were afraid to go near the elderly but they just told themselves to try their best because they wanted to make the elderly happy. How blessed are we to have these kind hearted children! And thank you All Saints Home for the opportunity to witness the precious interactions!
