This year our little Kingdoms (Kidskingdom PTE LTD) @ Hougang embarked on a recycling project for the Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project. The children were taught on the 3Rs, Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle. Our dear teachers had actively engaged the children in activities that taught them the importance of recycling.
We started off the project by introducing children off K1 and K2 on Save The Earth (Video). Following to that, children made a big globe using recycling item to make into 3D globe. During the Earth Day Awerenes in the centre, children pick up litters around the school and sort according to recycled and non - recycled materials. They threw the recyled materials in the Blue Bin that is available nearby our school.
Teachers and children worked hard making bookmarks on 3rs to increase awareness in the neighbourhood. Children walk around the neighbourhood and give out cards and bookmarks “Keep The Neighbourhood Clean” which they made in the centre. As part of our partnership program with parents, they actively participated in our projects by donating recycled materials such as plastic bottles, boxes and others. We then used them to make National Day Crafts.
At the end of the project, teachers and children set up a corner in the centre encourage children to Save The Earth. Overall the project has a positive impact with our children and they can now confidently share around on importance of recycling.
