The children were introduced to the inquiry for their Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) Project, Sharing Through Literacy, The children were invited to share their comprehension of the project title and impression on implementing the project. The children gathered their understanding and the importance of sharing with others. As the children exchange their views about sharing and its importance, they were heard expressing the various ways that they would like to share with others.
The importance of literacy was shared to the children. The children then listed the various ways that promotes literacy such as through speaking, listening, writing and reading. Parents and children were informed of the project and the three part programme for the project. Both parents and children will be involved from the start to the end programme of the SSDB project.
In conduction with the SSDB launch party, Literacy Day was dedicated for the event. The children were invited to the launch party. The parents were invited to upcycle recyclables to create the children’s favourite book characters. The children attended the party dressed as their favourite book character made of recyclables.
The children took this opportunity to share their favourite stories and book characters with their peers. They were invited to read to their peers and revisited the experience of sharing with others.
