Project Outline

For this year’s Start Small Dream Big project, we have decided to organise activities for children with cancer and those survivors of cancer. We want to create awareness about cancer patients and how we can contribute in giving them hope. This project was inspired by a student at our centre who survived cancer and is back at school. We will be interviewing the parent of that child and collaborating with hospitals that cater services to such children. We plan to organise activities such as birthday parties and art and craft to engage the patients and survivors. We hope to make it an annual community service.

Activities planned

29 March 2017: Welcome back party for Shi En

Shi En is a cancer survivor who was away from the centre for 1 year to undergo surgery and receive treatment. Currently she is in the recovery stage and has returned back to school. We have planned a welcome party for Shi En to reunite with her friends after a long break.

30 May 2017: First visit to Children’s ward at KKH

We will be collaborating with KKH/Children Cancer Foundation to plan a visit to the children’s ward. The centre’s children will be creating souvenirs for the patients to show that we care. The children will perform an item for the patients to enjoy as part of their healing process.
