Our children are ever ready for another ‘Start Small, Dream Big’ project! This year, we decided that we would like to show our care to seniors in our community. The children were inspired as they learn about the places and people in our community, which is part of our curriculum theme. We observed the seniors in our community during nature walks and brainstormed what we could do to show our care.
To start off our project, we decided to first display care for our grandparents and parents! They were invited to our Hari Raya celebration and engaged in various activities with the children. One such activity was batik-inspired painting!
It was heartwarming to see a BIG smile on the childrens’ faces as they worked together with their parents, grandparents and siblings to create a beautiful art piece! ❤️
On top of that, the Kindergarten class children were engaged in a baking session to make their all-time favourite chocolate chip cookies!
“ I like to do baking with my Mummy and Daddy. It’s very fun! “
The children were able to showcase their ‘cooking skills’ like mixing the batter and rolling the dough. They also displayed KINDNESS as they helped to gather ingredients for their parents and clean up after the session.
It was encouraging to see our parents and children communicating with each other as they worked together towards a common goal such as making delicious cookies!🍪
All in all, it was a memorable experience for the children, families and teachers. The children enjoyed a fun-filled day with their families and we hoped that it has helped foster a stronger intergeneration bond!☺️
Stay tuned for the next part of our project where we will be partnering with Jamiyah Nursing Home to show our care to seniors in the community. We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to lend a helping hand in our befriending sessions.
Come and join us in this fulfilling journey with your child! 🧓🏼👵🏼❤️
