Have you ever wondered what are all the raised dots on the lift buttons?
We discovered that it is actually Braille plates. Braille helps and guides the visually impaired to “read” by touching the raised outlines on the Braille plates.
With that, the visually impaired can be independent too!
We learnt how to “read” Braille numbers 0 - 9 through engaging activity! Six ring mats were placed in two rows of three on the floor, we worked in groups to stand at the respective ring mat to show the Braille number when a number is flashed.

Then, we used Saga seeds to make Braille numbers 0 - 9.

We also tested on each other to see who can “read” the most Braille numbers.

Then, we went outdoor to feel the Braille plates on the lift buttons.
It was not easy to guess what the Braille plates mean in real life. We wonder how long do the visually impaired took to learn Braille language.
