On the 20th of January 2023, Children of Skool4kidz @ Sengkang Riverside Park celebrated the annual Chinese New Year! Chinese New Year sis centered around removing the bad and the old and welcoming the new and the good. It is a time to worship ancestors, exorcise evil spirits and pray for good harvest. In relation to the ideas and beliefs of the celebration, the children discussed of the significance of celebrating Chinese New year and a variety of fun activities and games were planned by the teachers in for the children to participate in! Children of all levels and K2 parents wore their beautiful Chinese New Year outfits to celebrate! WOW!
K2 Parents were invited to celebrate and spend quality time to bond together with the children and the teachers in school. Fun activities were set up such as Chinese Calligraohy booth, Ball Toss game, Photobooth and last but not least, our favourite CNY snack booth!
The K2s have also prepared and practice hard for the Lion Dance performance to present to their parents and teachers!
Our K1s and N2s discussed on the origins, traditional costumes and ways people from all over the world celebrate Chinese new year! The children had the opportunity to try out Lion Dancing through a simple performance in class. The children danced to Chinese New Year songs and tasted many traditional and popular snacks typically eaten during Chinese New Year! Yummy!
