In-line with this year’s Start Small, Dream Big theme ‘A Hero for Everyone’, we aim to inspire our little innovators to become heroes by extending their helping hands to everyone in need and by realizing that their small actions can have a big impact on the world. The Hero card has activities that are separated into three categories: community, environment and living things.
Our Hero Card comprises of various school- and home-based activities for children and parents to do hands-on good work together! Akin to stamp collection, we want to develop in children a lifestyle and habit that innately pushes them to want to do good for our environment, people and living things! This project has unbelievably taken off successfully all thanks to our passionate children and their families. Now, our children are asking “What’s next? What can we do more?” Connecting families and children with our wider community often starts with a small action, but always ends up creating bigger dreams! We wish this will be possible for our little Innovators.
Here are some photos of the activities that the children engaged in to care for the environment by taking a car-less option, creating recycled crafts and picking litter at the beach ♻️
The children also learnt to care for living things as they took care of plants and pets both at home and in the classroom. One of our innovators managed to volunteer at a mural painting <It’s Raining Raincoats>, a lounge and workspace for migrant workers! 🤍
One of our key activities in caring for the community would be the joint effort of teachers, parents, and children in purchasing, packing, and distributing care packs to the elderly! 🤝🏻
Just like a collector’s passion, the children are well invested in collecting the stamps required to the complete hero card. We hope to cultivate an innate culture of kindness and generosity towards others in future. Stay tuned for more updates on the Singapore Kindness Movement puppet show, the Red Cross Humanitarian Trail, and our K2 performance at an old folk’s home, which are upcoming in future little stories posts!
