The children are introduced to the idea of elderlies who are living alone through the story of Grumpy Grandpa Ben. With this, the children are also encouraged to be kind and considerate to the elderly. It raised an awareness of how the children can show kindness even to people who are not from their family.
The children were able to relate to the story in a way of their willingness to help Grumpy Grandpa Ben. Some children even said that they would hug him every day, so he won’t be grumpy anymore. They came up with creative ways of helping Grumpy Grandpa Ben such as playing with him and making a card for him. Children do really have soft hearts for the elderly.
