This year’s SSDB project theme is about ‘Growing Greens’. The main objective of the project is to create a greater awareness of growing vegetables indoors for children and teachers as well. They will be introduced to the vegetables and herbs. This activity will promote the holistic learning development in children as they are encourage to ask questions, be inquisitive and eager to seek answers.
Learning Journey
We had a learning journey to Hort park where they get to explore the ‘Edible Garden Trail’.
Children used their five senses to learn about the culinary and medicinal uses of the various herbs in this interactive garden.
Vegetable Garden in the classroom
The children were introduced to the life cycle of plants and the process of growing vegetables. They were given hands on planting activity to experience authentic learning.
Showing care and respect for living things is also taught by allowing them to take care and water their plants everyday.
GS 11 SSDB CLOSURE
To end our SSDB project we encourage the children to eat the vegetable that they have planted. They can grow their vegetables to eat and can be planted indoor and outdoor. They have enjoyed the Sweet potato leave lodeh with rice cake or ‘lontong’ and they said that it is something new for them.
