To wrap-up our Start Small Dream Big learning journey which we embarked on in May 2018, the K2 children visited the elderly patients at Changi General Hospital’s Geriatric Ward on 21st August to enliven their afternoon with a rousing song and dance performance followed by a cosy tete-a-tete creating terrariums with the patients and then presenting it to them.
Indeed, meeting, making connections and touching the lives of these patients left a deep impression on the children and helped to impart the value of giving back to their community.
In turn, being able to make a difference in someone’s life and the appreciation they experienced from the patients and their care-givers helped the children in the growth of their self-esteem.
The children’s learning journey came full circle for them. They got to practice what they had learnt during their SSDB journey about helping the earth by using recyclable materials in the creation of the terrariums.
We hope that the gifts of these terrariums will help to enhance the lives of the patients by providing them with the beauty of plants and the therapeutic effect of nature and fresh air.
