The children and teachers from My First Skool Bishan Blk 236 went to APSN Chaoyang School to meet the students there.
The session began with the children introducing themselves through a game called, ‘Pass the Ball’. During the game, the children had to pass/ throw the ball to a new friend whilst introducing themselves. This provided an opportunity for the APSN students and our My First Skool children to learn each other’s names.
Then, one of the APSN students read the book, ‘The Hungry Giant’ by Joy Cowley. Afterwards, the APSN students and our My First Skool children were placed in small groups, and had to work together to create a healthy plate for the giant. During this activity, the children reinforced their fine motor skills as they manipulate a pair of scissors with dexterity.
The children then took a short movement break, led by our My First Skool children. Everyone was invited to sing and dance to this year’s National Day song, ‘Not Alone’. Afterwards, the children continued with the next activity, where they had to use real coins to buy food for the giant. This activity helped in introducing money to the Kindergarten 1 children, and help in reinforcing the concept of using money for our the Kindergarten 2 children.
The session ended with our My First Skool children giving out a small token of appreciation, which was done by them and their parents. The Kindergarten 1 and 2 children really enjoyed the trip to APSN Chaoyang School, and interacting with the students there!
