With the bright orange Start Small Dream Big hats on their heads, a group of K2 children set off for the plot next to the Senior Pacific Activity Centre in a sunny morning on 1 September 2022. They were eager to find out how the plants were doing at the Garden Harmony @ Tampines Central Blk 868A.
The children were delighted to find the spinach planted 3 weeks ago thriving at the plot and looked forward to harvesting time a few weeks down the road. The harvest would be shared with the elderly at Senior Pacific Activity Centre.
Guided by the volunteer-gardener from Senior Pacific Activity Centre, the children toured the plots adjacent to the Garden Harmony @ Tampines Central Blk 868A to learn more about plants. They found a variety of vegetables, fruits and flowers, including hibiscus, papaya, sweet potato and groundnuts.
It was an educative experience for the children as many of them had never seen the actual plants that yielded the beautiful flowers in vases, and the nutritious fruits and delectable vegetables on fruit platters and dining plates.
