After I participated in ‘Nature as Educator’ course, I wished I can share and carry on loving the nature and pass down to younger generation. Thus, this dream to sustain the beauty of our natural beaches in Singapore, “Start Small, Dream Big” (SSBD) mission paved the way for me. I was given a chance to do it with my colleagues and children from K1 and K2 for my school’s SSBD project. The K1 and K2 children from My First Skool @ Blk 135 Simei St. 1, had a mission to do Beach clean-up for 12 May, 2017 at East Coast Beach, 19 May, 2017 at Pasir Ris Beach and 26 May, 2017 at Changi Beach. The purpose of implementing the beach clean-up, was to nurture our future managers like the K1 and K2 to protect its natural resources, preserve its aesthetic natural beauty and prevent further harm to it.
We, at My First Skool, had invited several working parents and grandparents to volunteer in beach clean-up with us. Together, we did it for bonding and for a good course yet meaningful activity for three generation (grandparents’, parents’/ teachers’) efforts to maintain cleanliness for our nature beaches. Children were geared themselves with tongs, disposable gloves and consistent ‘safety by the beach’ before starting the clean-up task for up to 3 consecutive dates. Wet weather or scorching sun did not deter our spirit. Just as we worked and managed to clean-up at East Coast Beach, which was slightly wet on 12 May 2017. Children looked forward to two more beach clean-up. They felt it was thier responsiblity to keep the beaches clean.
