Fun Activities with the Elderly from St Luke's Eldercare

As part of our monthly collaboration with our neighbour, St Luke’s Eldercare, the teachers are constantly thinking of creative and fun activities to engage the elderly. The dedicated team from St Luke’s also gave us feedback that the elderly particularly enjoy craftwork and they love to watch our children perform simple songs. It brings a smile to their faces and to our faces as well!

The children from the Nursery Class recorded a series of Finger Rhymes for the elderly. Finger rhymes in Mandarin were selected as most of the elderly were Chinese and it is more relatable.

The K1 came up with an interesting and fun game! The children drew various characters such as robots and portraits of themselves. These pictures were then cut into jigsaw puzzles and laminated for the elderly to fix it together. Not only does this require some problem solving skills, the elderly also get to admire the creative pictures drawn by the children! What a fun activity!

Last but not least, the elderly taking part in various craftworks such as origami and 3D sculptures.

We are happy to share engaging activities with the elderly and hope that in time to come, we may all gather together again for special events and celebrations!
