It has been great seeing how engaged and participative the children have been with their plant observations at our Zero Waste Edible Garden. We continue to be amazed at how our spring onions have been growing healthily and in abundance. We continue to share these harvests with our educators and Enfant aunties too! In school, we also put them as our garnish for our lunch too.
Our project continues in July with a special cookery session using our very own harvest. The K2 educators conducted and shared a covid-safe cookery session of Spring Onion Pancakes. The children helped to prep-up the ingredients as they cut the spring onions from the bulbs and were so thrilled and enthusiastic when they finally got to taste the fruits of their labour!
As caring for their garden continues, the children also prepared a special DIY fertilizer using fruit scraps: orange and banana peel.
Keep a lookout for the next part of our project next month!
