Four National Taps

A topic on “What do we use water💧for? was facilitated and we shared with one another of our ideas.

“drinking”

“cooking”

“showering”

“washing hands”

And the lists go on…

But.. where do we get so much water from to supply the usage of water above???

We drew out where we think we get water from.

Then, we shared our ideas with our friends and gathered some ideas from them too.

Below are some of our thoughts:”water comes from tap!”

“water comes from the ground!”

“Water comes from the sky, when it rain, we have water!”

We wonder, where do we get the water to supply our daily usage in Singapore?

After that, we worked in group to find pieces of puzzle around the classroom. We completed the puzzle to find out the answer to our queries.

We discussed about what we see in the picture before sharing it with our friends through show and tell of our discoveries.

We learnt that Singapore depends on four sources for its water supply - Imported Water, NeWater, Desalinated Water and Water from Local Catchment, which we call the four national taps.

This diversified water supply strategy ensures Singaporeans of a robust supply of water for generations to come.

We played a game to understand the meaning of “Every Drop Counts”

In the game, we took turn to squeeze out as much water as we could from the wet cloth into a container within 5 minutes. When the time is up, we compared which group has the most water.

Through the game, we understand every drop is precious and how it could affect the result of the game. Putting this in real life, every drop we could save is equally precious.
