Our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) President Challenge 2022 project is about food sustainability through gardening and use of recycled materials. Our K1 and K2 children were being introduced to the importance of recycling and food sustainability through hands-on gardening and growing of edible plants using recycled gardening materials.
For this project, our parents have participated by contributing empty drink and food containers for us to reuse and recycle as our gardening tools and equipment. The children will be planting the seeds of “Kow Peck Chye” vegetable provided by National Park (NPark) as part of the Kindness Movement Package given to the school.
The children were taught on the methods of planting the seeds and also participated in the daily watering of the plants. They were delighted to find out that the seeds which they have planted themselves have managed to sprout just after 3 days.
Everyone is looking forward to the harvest of their own edible plants!
