Our K1 & K2 Children at PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Bukit Batok East Blk 241 had a wonderful learning journey on Food Safety through Start Small Dream Big project, 2023.
Food Safety means access to sufficient amount of safe and nutritious food and is key to sustaining life and promoting good health. It refers to proper handling, cooking, and preservation of food in order to protect people from foodborne illnesses.
Our little ones’ enriched their knowledge of Food Safety through this exploring learning, which will lead them to apply their knowledge into practicality in school and at home. The children listened with keen ears to ‘Our Singapore Food Story’. To begin this story, they learnt how in our Singapore we get the food through different ways and what food we produce locally.
The children enriched their knowledge on Singapore-farmed produce and learnt the names of the SG fresh products. Then they colored the given templates.
They were thrilled to create the ‘Grocery Fun’ models. Bravo!
They excitedly met Oscar the Food Safety Mascot and enriched their knowledge on ‘5 key tips on Food Safety ‘. They created posters on 5 Key tips with their parents enriching their learning together.
They travelled further through their journey on Food Safety by learning to select the food they buy carefully. They explored how to find the expiry date on different food items.
They stretched their knowledge further by creating their own ‘Food Expiry Tracker’ from recycled materials and had fun decorating their individual trackers.
They then went home to find the expiry dates of the items in their fridge and filled in the details on their Trackers. They proudly displayed their Trackers. Great work!👏👏👏
The children enjoyed the Singapore Food Agency face to face talk by Ms Felicia and enhanced their knowledge further. The session was engaging and interactive.
Then it was the most awaited Finale exhibition of our awesome learning journey on Food Safety, highlighting all our beautiful works. 👍💪🎉
