As part of the SSDB project on our theme “ Little Mighty Us”, we continue our journey to teach and help our community partner.
Our children were excited to meet our friends at Rainbow Centre and they were also looking forward to meet our preschoolers.
We worked with our parents and the Rainbow Centre to make soap for fundraising. The idea came about when our K2 children explored various plants at our local community garden managed by residents. We discovered the therapeutic benefits of lavender, such as its calming effects, and decided to explore making lavender soap for our project to help others. We also wanted to share what we have learnt.
We were happy to collaborate with Rainbow centre who helped to arrange soap- making workshops for their clients. These workshops were taught by our little ones.
These workshops kicked off with video screening, follow by flash cards, check lists , and then actual demonstrations how to make lavendar soaps. In this workshop, our children learned to be kind in actions and words. We also learned how to help them. We made many new friends at Rainbow Centre. It was fun and we liked learning with them.
From this project, our children learned important values such as being kind, patient and compassionate, especially when interacting with others. We also discovered that we can play a part in an inclusive society. We now know that we can make a positive difference to others!
